PPDB abbreviation denotes a new element in the protection of pedestrians, the active front hood. When the pedestrian impact hood with pyrotechnic detonators lifted slightly to obtain more space for safe deceleration shock body.
English term Pedestrian Deployable Bonnet pyrotechnic, or Bonnet Pop-Up or Pop-Up Engine Hood indicates a new element in the protection of pedestrians. Loosely translated it is a pyrotechnic hood adjustable for pedestrians. This element passive protection developed Citroen and Jaguar first introduced it in its XK model. The aim of the hood is positioned to mitigate the consequences of conflict in the car with a pedestrian. It is therefore an element of passive safety .
Principle
Active bonnet operates on a relatively simple principle. Once the sensors located in the front bumper has determined the collision with a pedestrian, pyrotechnic detonators literally shoots the hood and the front is slightly raised. Lifting the bonnet is increasing distance from the hard parts such as engine, etc., this creates more room under the hood of the body to slow down pedestrians. A raised front bonnet acting as a sort of cushion and shock absorber for the body pedestrians. The firing occurs in only 30 ms.
