IIHS is a European equivalent of Euro NCAP, which most motorists are familiar. IIHS is a nonprofit organization that, among other things deals with the insurance shocks.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is an independent non-profit educational organization dedicated to barrier tests. Especially the insurance shocks. IIHS is funded through insurance companies, which gain comparable information on the safety of individual vehicles and their subsequent costs of repair. With this information, insurance companies divide cars into classes.
IIHS organization was founded in 1959 to conduct and finance programs to improve safety on the highways. Its scope has gradually widened.
