Ford uses an abbreviation to describe HLA assistant to start up the hill.

HLA acronym formed from English words and Hill Launch Assist assistant indicates start uphill. This system prevents spontaneous retreat starting on a slope. Ford's HLA system works much like other automobile brake assistants. The system simply keeps the pressure in the brake circuit still 2.5 seconds after releasing the brake pedal.
