DPC is an abbreviation indicating the active rear differential. DPC system allows controlled torque distribution between left and right wheel. This system provides more efficient use improves traction and driving dynamics. DPC uses the acronym automaker BMW. The first car equipped with this system became the BMW X6.
BMW X6 with permanent all-wheel xDrive system is equipped with a new DPC (Dynamic Performance Control), which improves its handling and dynamic properties. All-wheel drive system xDrive allows multi-disk clutch torque distribution between front and rear axle. The DPC then still allows power distribution to the right and left rear wheel.
Each of the rear drive shaft from the gearbox and differential planetary gear separated self, clutch and braking with electric actuator, which controls the efficiency of these mechanical parts according to the instructions of the control unit. For example, in turning the outer wheel gets bigger share of torque. When starting again oversteer skid DPC system can transfer power from the outer wheel on the inside, leading to stabilization. The advantage of this system is that by shifting power to the right wheel is less frequent interventions DSC stabilization system , which extends through the brake system and it works even when driving on the actual limit.
