Among the newly inflected concepts in the automotive industry are "downsizing". Downsizing is the use of technologies such as turbocharging and direct fuel injection to achieve the same output volume of smaller engines.
The English word "downsizing" can be translated as being closed. Basic idea of "downsizing" is reducing engine capacity while maintaining the same performance. This engine delivers increased efficiency while reducing emissions .
The larger engine capacity also means a bigger engine. Larger engine has more weight, thus greater inertia. This engine not only has greater resistance of inertia, but a greater frictional resistance. Frictional resistance is related to the dimensions of the parts in contact. The driver then recognizes these disadvantages in increased fuel consumption. Higher losses and difficult to control burning large amounts of compounds also lead to higher emissions of exhaust gases . All these arguments speak in favor of downsizing.
The atmospheric engine is synonymous with the volume of the mixture, which can absorb the engine during each intake stroke. This helps solve the problem of turbocharger. Increasing the air pressure at the inlet to the engine sucked more mixed. Direct injection enables precise control again in the combustion cylinder. This may cause the engine to replace 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with a volume of 2 liters, as shown. At comparable power consumption parameters decreases by about 9%.
