From 1 July 2006 was introduced on Czech roads to have a light lit throughout the day regardless of winter or summer time (before the light duty throughout the day only in winter time). Daily lighting greatly contributes to road safety and is implemented in many European countries.

Daytime running lights in the CR directs the amendment of Act No. 361/2000 Coll. Road (§ 32), which provides that motor vehicle must have a driving position and switched on low beam or parking lights for daytime running lights, if they are equipped .

Daytime running lights are often confused (and unfortunately some branded services and equipment vendors) for automatically switching current subdued lights, but that must be lit along with other lighting. Lights daytime running lights alone is a bit illogical and totally unlit car from behind.

Installation, location and involvement of daytime running lamps prescribes and regulates the homologation UN / ECE Regulation No. 48, which prescribes the Decree No. 341/2002 Coll. The homologation regulation is detailed as it should be placed on lamp height, width, length of the vehicle, and electrically connected to the orientation of the request forward.

Basic rules for retrofit daytime running lights:

lights light up automatically when the ignition (start engine) and turn off after shutting down, or when illuminated marker lights

Retrofitting of daytime running lights are not rebuilt vehicle or a change of technical data, and therefore their location on a vehicle not subject to any additional approval or registration in the registry or TP.

The main benefit of these additional lights are energy saving, because when they use off-marker, tail lights or passing vehicles. Savings will also extend the life of bulbs and lamps .

Daytime running lights must be approved to UN / ECE Regulation 48 and is intended solely for lighting during the day for unimpaired visibility.
