Tinted windshield, or windshield with a reflective coating, helps to reduce the temperature inside the car. Between two layers of laminated windscreen is inserted a very thin metallic foil. This film reflects the infrared component of sunlight. This invisible component of sunlight causes the heating elements, especially the front passenger seat and dashboard.

The English name is Athermic windscreen. A thin metallic film metal oxide with a thickness of several tens of nanometers, is placed between layers of glass. This thin metallic layer reflects up to 30% of solar energy falling on the windshield. In classical windscreen reflects only 6%. Filtering out the infrared component of incident light is to reduce the temperature in front of the car approx. 6 ° C reduction in temperature of about dashboard. 30 ° C, and of course also reduces the time to smooth the cab when using air conditioning .

Principle:

Solar radiation is composed of three components:
ultraviolet radiation (With a wavelength ranging from 280 to 380 nm) causes wear organic materials used in the manufacture of individual components of the car interior
visible radiation (the wavelength range 380-780 nm) radiation is perceived by the human eye, the glass is important to its maximum throughput
infrared radiation (a wavelength ranging from 780 to 2500 nm) is a source of thermal energy

It infrared radiation causes heating of the interior, so it must be minimized. There are two ways to address:
maximum absorption of infrared radiation - Principle of tinted glass and darkened
maximum reflection of infrared radiation - The principle of reflective glass atermických
