This is a permanent all-wheel drive vehicles used Mercedes-Benz. The drive is implemented using the 4ETS . 4Matic system improves driveability and traction capability of the vehicle due to transfer of power to all four wheels. Distribution transmission with an open central differential distributes the torque between the two axles. Models Mercedes-Benz 4Matic equipped with traction system 4ETS . system 4ETS targeted brake intervention to maximize traction in three replacing the three differentials.

History:
The first mention of the 4Matic date back to 1985 when it introduced the car at the IAA in Frankfurt. System utilized the most advanced electronics and hydraulics with automatic axle lock ASD. Car also offered anti-ASR using sensor ABS anti-lock braking system . The first generation was not permanent 4WD "quad" and the front wheels are joined with little delay. Center differential with automatic, electro-cap (ASD) used the tracking speed of the driven and non-driven wheels. If different speed differential was able to close to 100%.

first-generation 4Matic system

In 1992 he was briefly offered second-generation 4Matic system, which instead of hydraulic center differential used in electronics. Unfortunately differentials with plate joints were defective, and therefore the second generation of 4Matic was soon completely withdrawn from sale.

In 1998, introduced the third generation of 4Matic that is offered today. The third generation of operating as a permanent all-wheel drive with variable power distribution. It uses three open differentials (one inter-and one for each axle) and the maximum traction is controlled electronically. Instead of closing axle differential system uses přibrzďování each wheel, the system 4ETS .
