4ETS designation is electronically controlled all-wheel drive system. Abbreviation 4ETS originated from England Four-wheel Electronic Traction System - an electronic all-wheel drive system.
4ETS drive system works without the differential lock. Instead of classical differential closure system přibrzďuje individual wheels with reduced adhesion to the road. This will delegate more power to the wheels that have good adhesion to the road surface. With these targeted and very fast braking pulses is achieved by a greater effect than when using three sheets differential.
Automatic braking system 4ETS impulses are conducted in conjunction with the ESP according to data from motion sensors car. The core system is a single-stage gearbox 4ETS open central differential, which balances the speed of the individual axles. The differential is directly coupled with automatic transmission and, together with the engine, drive speed and drive the front wheels complete drive unit.
